PIL Case Details

This PIL seeks directions from the Court to the opposite parties for effective implementation of the provisions of the Unorganised Workers’ Social Security Act 2008, and Odisha Rules 20120 framed thereunder. Taking concern with the facts that the state is yet to frame social security schemes for unorganised workers as is required by law, and that the process of registration of workers and conferment of benefits to them is very low, and that there has been gross under - utilisation of resources, the petitioners have filed the present PIL. The petitioners also raise concern over the general lack of awareness regarding the beneficial legal provisions among the target group. They also pray for the creation of a concrete database of unorganised workers in the state.
