PIL Case Details

This PIL is for the regulation of kalyan mandaps in Cuttack , many of which are unlicensed, and without parking lots, thereby causing great inconvenience to residents near said mandaps. The Court appointed a committee , directing them to verify and submit their report on the status of kalyan mandaps. The Committee identified 180 k alyan mandaps – out of which only 76 had applied for license, and 104 had not yet applied as of 16 th March 2016. As of 21 st June 2022, the Court directed the Cuttack Municipal Corporation to complete the exercise of preparing detailed regulations, and plac e them before the government as soon as possible.
